Sung Eucharist
Easter Sunday
Sunday 5 April 2026

Mary Magdalen turned round and saw Jesus standing there, but she did not know that it was Jesus. Jesus said to her, 'Woman, why are you weeping? For whom are you looking?' Supposing him to be the gardener, she said to him, 'Sir, if you have carried him away, tell me where you have laid him and I will take him away.' Jesus said to her, 'Mary'! She turned and said to him in Hebrew, 'Rabouni'! (which means Teacher). Jesus said to her, 'Do not hold on to me because I have not yet ascended to my Father. But go to my brothers and say to them, "I am ascending to my Father and your Father, to my God and your God."' Mary Magdalene went and announced to the disciples, 'I have seen the Lord.' John 20: 16-18

A prayer from Embrace the Middle East

Almighty God,
We turn to you as we witness the rising of conflict
And the fear laid upon ordinary lives.
Trusting in your steadfast love,
we hold before you our friends and partners across the Middle East
in communities already stretched beyond endurance.
We remember before you all whose hearts are filled with dread today.
Surround them with your protection.
Be a fortress for those who cannot flee
and a shield for those whose work is to heal and to hope.
Open paths for wisdom, restraint, and justice
where none seem possible.
Give courage to peacemakers
and teach us to stand with those who suffer,
to pray without ceasing
and to hope, even now, in your redeeming love.
Amen.
