The Opera Makers | Hopes & Fears

A semi-staged reawakening of our poignant opera, Hopes & Fears, created in collaboration with Shine Cancer Support.

Based on the music of Debussy, this new opera explores the experiences of those living with cancer.

“Bringing light and shade to such a painful subject is difficult, but Hopes & Fears often succeeds.”

This is a free, un-ticketed event. 
There will be a retiring collection in aid of the Andy Armistead Fund.

Thomas Tallis Society | Howells Requiem

Beautiful and contemplative music outpouring penitence by composers from the 16th to the 21st centuries will be included in the Thomas Tallis Society Choir’s concert on Saturday 8 March. The mainly unaccompanied programme with music by Charpentier, Dove, Lobo, Briggs, Purcell, Leighton, and Pärt will conclude with Herbert Howells' deeply moving Requiem, written in 1933 but not published until 1980, three years before his death. 

The choir, directed by Eamonn Dougan, will also be joined by violin and piano in performances of sonatas by Heinrich Biber.
