Welcome |
Concerts and Recitals at St Alfege Church

Whether you are visiting us for the first time or are a familiar face, welcome

Artistry, creativity, and music-making are woven into the fabric of St Alfege Church, whether we look to the past at the architecture of Nicholas Hawksmoor, the paintings of Sir James Thornhill, and the music of Thomas Tallis, or to the present in the St Alfege Church Choir and our close partnership with Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance. We are, therefore, proud to continue this tradition of creative engagement by providing a varied programme of events throughout the year.

For an overview of all artistic events at St Alfege Church, please view our calendar here.

If you would like to financially support our Concerts and Recitals programme, you can donate here.

Free Lunchtime Recital Series |

St Alfege Church organises a free, regular lunchtime recital series at 13.05 on Thursdays and Saturdays, offering audiences affordable access to excellent live music and a performance platform for talented artists.

Alongside this series, St Alfege Church is proud to facilitate many other creative events. We enjoy working with our wide range of external creative partners to help produce successful and memorable events within our spaces.

With the unparalleled one-thousand-year history of the site, alongside the recent completion of the Heart of Greenwich Project, St Alfege Church provides a unique space at the intersection of heritage and innovation that is suitable for many different creative projects. We therefore welcome event enquiries from any prospective performers, producers, or organisations who are interested in utilising the church spaces.

A message from Rhian

024DCC2D-1260-454A-8820-CAA5F8My name is Rhian Davies, and I am utterly thrilled to have joined the St Alfege Church family in the role of Concerts and Recitals Coordinator. My ancestral home is Aberystwyth, but I was born in Carshalton, grew up near Epsom Downs, ventured to the University of Cambridge for my undergraduate studies, and have ended up in lovely Greenwich. I graduated at the end of last year with a master’s degree in Vocal Studies from Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance and, as such, I have already benefitted greatly from the relationship that the conservatoire has with St Alfege Church. My singing repertoire ranges from baroque cantatas to contemporary operas, so I hope to bring that spirit of variety in musical appreciation to this role. St Alfege Church really is the Heart of Greenwich, and the musical life of the church reflects this; I hope to expand on the wonderful work already going on, providing even more opportunities for music-making and community engagement.

This work is nothing without the support of audiences and congregations, so I wish to say a big thank you to all of you who contribute to the life of the artistic pursuits in this place with your time, your presence and your donations.

I look forward to working with and serving this community – please do get in touch with any questions, ideas, or feedback here.

I look forward to welcoming you to St Alfege Church soon.
